(excerpt from) WORDS OF WISDOM
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. --Reinhold Niebuhr
Michael Grant, in his book “Your Marvelous Mind” explains change this way “…change is difficult because it requires saying good-bye to familiar people, places and patterns. Change means letting go. Change means facing the unknown. Change is about risk and insecurity. But change is inevitable.” “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change”-- There will be times when you will not want to accept the changes that you are going through because some changes hurt; like the loss of a relationship, job, material possessions or your health. During times of turmoil and chaos you need to find peace within. To do that you need to practice being peaceful. The Bible says “Be still and know that I am God.” Take time every day to sit quietly and clear your mind. It is during this quiet time that you will obtain “the peace of God which passeth all understanding.” Develop a meditation practice so that when you feel like you are in the midst of chaos, you remain calm because YOU are like the eye of the hurricane, in the calm center. Find the calm center by going within and being still. |
